When is it? September 16, 2006. This date is important because it is the Mexican Independence Day, their 4th of July. A fiesta (party) day for the entire country, and we’re invited!

What about travel in Mexico, is it difficult? Not at all. The only thing you’ll need is Mexican insurance on your car for the trip. It is available from one of the event sponsors by visiting them via our website. You don’t need a passport or anything like that.

What is there to do? We are hosting a “fiesta” (party) for you and your family. It will start with the Tecate Beach Bonfire on Friday night and run through Saturday, ending with the awards dinner Saturday night. Sunday, you can park your PWC and visit the town for shopping and sightseeing, go horseback riding, or hang out on the sandy beach.

What is the water like? It is the Sea of Cortez, and it has no surf. It is warm and smooth. You will ride in sight of the sandy beach. More photo opportunities than you can shake a stick at.

What about accommodations? Our host properties, the Playa Bonita Hotel, the Playa Bonita RV Park, and the Laos Mar Hotel all have special rates for our participants. You may call them, or visit them via our website link to make your reservations. From a campsite to a suite they will make you welcome with accommodations to fit your budget.

Who is putting this on? We at DSM Events are producing the party for our sponsors. We are the people that have produced the World Finals. It is made possible by the sponsorship from The American Watercraft Association, Personal Watercraft Illustrated Magazine, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Sea-Doo, Gasket Technology, Slippery Wet Suits, Puerto Penasco Tourism, Playa Bonita Resort,  Walt’s Motorsports & Marine, Jettrim, and more.

What is a Poker Run? You will be given a map with a list of scenic sites indicated on it (they are all very nearby).  At your leisure you will ride to each of these stops, and there you will draw a playing card, building a poker hand. When you return to the main beach party you will turn these in. At the dinner that night we will pay out generous cash prizes to the winning hands.

What if I don’t win? Don’t fret because thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and associate sponsors we will have over 100 door prizes to give away. Most participants will win something.

Water - can I drink it? Probably not a good idea. Bottled water is readily available for us Gringos, along with more well known local beverages.....cervesa comes to mind (that’s beer to us gringos).

What about Mexican Insurance? You will need to purchase insurance for your tow vehicle while in Mexico. It is required by the Mexican government. Your US policy will not cover you for liability or loss while south of the border. Instant Mexico Auto Insurance will be happy to help you, you purchase coverage by the day. Just click on the button on the left of your screen to contact them. Remember that they will cover your tow vehicle, trailer and PWC while it is on the trailer, but not while it is in the water.
