Fun & Events at the WOW

Grand Poker Run - In this fun city of gaming we have another way to try your luck. As entrants cruise between the hotels and shows and events on Saturday they can pick up a card for their poker hand from each hotel. The pick up location will be designated by each hotel, some may be in the event/show area, some inside the casino, etc. You will be advised as to the location. The winning hands will be paid during the awards ceremony Sunday morning at Harrah's.

Shuttle- There will be free shuttles for participants to take you between the various properties so that you can leave your vehicle if you choose.

KJJJ/BFGoodrich Burnout Contest - This fun event is open to all entrants at no additional cost. We fasten two, one inch thick steel plates on the ground, positioned behind a water filled freeway type barricade. This will take place at the Ramada Express Hotel - Casino Saturday afternoon.

Competitors place their vehicle so that the rear tires are on the steel plates, and the front end facing the barrier. We then block the front wheels using special chocks and blocks to the barricade. The competitor then has fifteen seconds to spin his wheels, or "burnout" on the steel plates. We use sound level meters to measure the crowd reaction at both ends of the area, and average the readings to create a score for the competitor. The winners are the ones who get the biggest reaction from the audience while turning their horsepower into smoke and noise. Cash prizes and awards are given at the awards ceremony on Sunday. We will have two divisions, "Pro" for previous winners, and "Sportsman" for those who haven't won before.

Chassis Dynomometer - This portable device measures the vehicles' actual road horsepower. The car is driven onto the trailer so that the rear wheels contact the rollers. Instrumentation is added to the car, it is secured in place, and then power is applied and road horsepower and torque is computer measured and printed out. 

We will draw entry numbers from the first four hundred paid entries to determine forty participants who will get to do this for free (a $75 value). The winners drawn can use this to run their entered vehicle, or may give it to any other entered vehicle. This will be taking place all day Saturday at the Pioneer. The pros from the DynoShop in Santee, California are the experienced operators of this great attraction. 

Stockcar Race Car Simulator - Want to try your hand at racing a Baby Grand (2/3 scale Winston Cup Car) race car around the track at Fontana? Well, we have the ride for you! All day Saturday at the Car Corral area at the Colorado Belle (next to registration at the Edgewater) CBC Motorsports will have free rides for our entrants in their computer simulator. Their computer program will take you around Fontana or Irwindale if you can handle it, and you'll see the gauges move, and feel the performance degrade when (or should I say if?) you hit the wall. Spectators can try their hand for just $2 per ride, but it's free to entrants! It will be racing all day Saturday.

Car Corral - Vehicles for sale only are displayed in a special area at the Colorado Belle starting Friday and all day Saturday, and Sunday at the vehicle owners' option. For only $20 anyone can park their special "for sale" vehicle of any type here and have it seen by thousands of WOW spectators and Laughlin casino goers during the event. Be sure and stop by and see what bargains there are, you'll see trailers, boats, race cars, hot rods, regular cars, you name it.

Model Car Contest - There will be two classes for model car entries, Senior & Junior. Models are to be brought to the display area in the Vendor Village at the Edgewater after 9 am Saturday. Judging will take place Saturday afternoon, and the awards will be presented during the awards ceremony at Harrah's Sunday starting at 10 am. Models are to be picked up by 7 pm Saturday. 

Models entered by WOW participants are free, those entered by non participants (people that don't have vehicles entered in the show) are charged $5.

Welcome Weenie Roast - Friday evening, from 6 pm to 9 pm we will host free hot dogs and chili and soda for the entrants and their guests in the display area in front of the Flamingo.
